Our Dolly is holding well. She is still very sick. A yeast in her blood is very serious and everyone has their brows furrowed. She is on good antibiotics and antifungals though and the new arterial line is not growing anything. However, the left PICC is also growing the yeast now. Her liver and bilis are still not good and she isn't peeing. I know many of you already pray all of the time, but she has suffered so many insults to her immune system, organs, and wounds. I don't know how much more she can weather. So please, keep up the love and prayers. She needs us. She needs a miracle.
She is weaning off blood pressure medicines again and her resident, Maggie was very pleased about that. Other numbers are fine, but the best numbers are her WBC of 3.4 and absolute neutrophil count of 2600 -go Elle!! As I have said before, the medicines in combination with her own body's immune system is what will ultimately kill those darn bugs - and a little extra prayers won't hurt. As her grandma said (in hungarian), "God put you on this Earth and he can heal you".
We will continue to fight for her as long as she wiggles, looks at us, and squeezes our fingers against the vecuronium that is supposed to paralyze her. She says "I eat veck for breakfast!" and keeps moving. She has a lot of fight and as I have said before, she is the toughest person I know.
Chloe is having fun, getting involved in whatever activity is currently going on. She is a joy (and a pain -but I couldn't love her more. This trip would be so much harder without her antics!)
Chloe amazes me sometimes. She picks up more than we realize. The other day, we were talking about Elle at dinner and Chloe said, "She is in the hospital getting better and the turquoise machine is fixing her blood". Then she said her sister is going to get better and come home and play with her and grow up as big as her. I told Chloe, "That is my dream" and she said, "That is my dream too". OK, she's three. And she does worry about her sister...and us. She said that her dad slept well, and asked if I slept. I said I did and she told me good job!

Hello,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Alexandra and I live in Australia. I just wanted you to know that I am out here in cyberspace, reading your blog every day and hoping with all of my heart that Elle will overcome all the side effects involved with BMT and be given the chance to go home healthy and happy. You are in my heart and in my thoughts.
Following your journey, thinking of you all and wishing Elle all the best. Hope she gets better soon.

What a wonder girl little Elle is! I pray for her and you every day. When I read your blog I amaze at all the strength and fight Elle has! She seems to know that everyone around her is fighting for her and loving her. This alone gives her strength. I will pray for her and ask God to fight harder and harder through this current infection. God be with you always!

Three year olds are a trip! You never know what's going to be coming out of their mouths next! Good or bad...LOL.
I'm glad you got some rest. I'm sure it's hard to keep up with all you have to do in a day.
Lots of love,

Oh, bummer! Al's Breakfast can be really busy -- particularly when the U of M students have exams. Another day! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is also my dream for Elle to come home and grow as big as Chloe to play together. I would love that so much, and I pray even more now for that miracle to be. Elle is amazingly strong, and Chloe too, they get their courage and strength from two of the best parents I have known. Please let us know if you all need anything. Lotts of hugs and love from all of us back home.
